Andrew Rowan served as an intern for NBC News Now in New York City.
During his time, he produced live guest segments by writing scripts and questions, cutting video, conceptualizing graphics, and writing banners.
He also oversaw 10+ topical graphics for studio monitors each day and served as a production assistant, communicating with segment producers to cut more than 300 elements for broadcast.
Andrew was also able to pitch, produce, report and write three packaged stories, including one about commercial space infrastructure with field shoots across two states and in collaboration with a network-wide, cross-platform series related to NASA’s ARTEMIS launch.
Derryl Barnes was the recipient of the NABJ & ESPN Stuart Scott Scholarship/Internship. He spent the summer as a production intern — performing the tasks of a Production Assistant for several ESPN shows (SportsCenter, NFL Live, First Take, Get Up, and more). He attended daily content meetings, pitched story ideas, and produced and edited highlight segments, VOs, SOTs, & other video elements that aired daily on ESPN.
As an intern for Good Morning America, Kaila worked with the field and series department, which produces the show's taped pieces. She assisted producers with writing scripts, gathering elements and research. Another fun highlight was shadowing GMA's Executive Producer, Simone Swink, as well as producers on the World News Tonight team. Near the end of Kaila's internship, she also co-wrote and produced a package summarizing her internship experiences. She was also able to pitch story ideas to show producers.
