In this age of “Fake News” versus “Real News”, the importance of newsroom ethics shouldn’t be understated. To earn the public’s trust, journalists must strive to be accurate, objective, fair and ethical.

Join us as our panelists touch on topics like conflicts of interest; using anonymous sources; your filming rights in public and private settings; and fair use practices with regards to licensed material featured in news stories. They will also touch on how to identify, protect, and defend legitimate journalism.

Journalists attending include:

  • Carol Marin – DePaul University co-director for Center for Journalism Integrity and Excellence
  • Don Moseley – DePaul University co-director for Center for Journalism Integrity and Excellence
  • Margaret Holt – Chicago Tribune ombudsman
  • Marsha Bartel – WGN-TV investigative producer
  • Maggie Bowman – Kartemquin Films producer
  • Resita Cox – City Bureau reporter
